HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
Ever since Sage could remember, the New Year's party at the beach was the most anticipated event of the whole year. Children, teens, adults, the elderly, they all attended. There was music, food, dancing, games, bonfires, and fireworks that lit the dark sky as the over sized clock counted down to ring in the new year.
Though it was freezing in December, there were people who decided to go skinny dipping in the ocean's dark waters. Some people decided to find their own little hiding spot to spend "alone time" with their lovers. Others decided that New Year's was a time for drinking and brought cases upon cases of alcohol. This was going to be the party of the year and Sage was determined to make the best of 2027.

Delilah gave a strangled growl, pulling at the horrible...thing(!) she was wearing. There were times where it was simply best to just let her mum get what she wanted, let her win even. There was only so much a normal human being could take, Delilah was known for being more resistant than most but even she had to simply let things lie. So, that's why she found herself walking down to the bloody beach party, lagging conveniently behind her parents and totally apart from her oh so infamous brothers. She didn't even like to think about the possibilities of exactly what they'd be getting up tonight...really...REALLY didn't want to think about it.
She would have gone home but not even she liked the idea of being home alone on New Year's Eve, she'd therefore decided that she would generally avoid pretty much every member of her family (that included extended family) as much as physically possible, possibly have a drink or two, wait for the countdown, then go home. Simple, straightforward...just how she liked it.
((Awful first post but I thought I'd get the ball rolling!))

The beach at night was always cold. The ocean air brought in an even colder chill to an already cold night. However, this didn't stop many of the residents of Richmond. There were little kids, teens, and even adults swimming in the cold, black waters in nothing but a bathing suit. Though to some it might have sounded miserable, it was clear that they were all thrilled.
Of course, Lexi being the adventurous type, had to try swimming in the cold waters. She had actually never jumped off a click into cold water and it was something she wanted to try tonight. It was the last day of the year after all, and she needed to go out with a bang!
Except, jumping off a cliff was never fun by yourself. Doing anything super adventurous was always fun with a partner or even a group. So, Lexi planted herself by one of the bonfires in her two piece black bathing suit that had little sail boats on it. The heat from the fire felt good on her skin and she let herself rest there in the sand as she waited for someone to prey on jump with her.

The News Year party. The biggest event of the year. Lily hadn't attended the past two years she had been here, having decided to simply celebrate at home with her parents and brother. But this year, Gale was off on some big party with his friends, and her parents had decided to spend it on a small beach, just the two of them. Well, they had offered to let her come along, but she had quickly declined. She had certainly not wanted to go down that road.
So, here she was, dressed in jeans, a tight top, heels, and a jacket. Even after two years, she still hadn't really made many friends. Not that she had really tried. After that whole...incident, she had been wary of talking to anyone. But it had been two years, and Lily figured she better start remaking her social life again. She walked down to the beach, keeping to herself for a moment. She'd start talking to people. Eventually. This was enough out of her comfort zone, coming to a big party when she didn't know anyone. And she wasn't really a partygoer. But staying at home by herself hadn't been an appealing option either.
She decided she'd stay till midnight, cheer with everybody else, then slip out. Because she doubted she'd really talk to anyone. She knew she should, but coming at all was a big enough step for her.

Ah, New Year's. I remember back when that was all we looked forward to during high school was getting drunk and doing things all night to bring in the new year. Getting drunk was my favorite part of the whole night. Didn't care if I got laid or anything, all I wanted was alcohol. Now, though, I couldn't do that. I had managed to stay away from alcohol for quite a few years now and I wanted it to stay that way. Besides, if I had any, it could be the death of me. Literally.
Anyway, I got out of the taxi -- again with the damn taxis -- and made my way carefully over to where Sage usually held his New Year's parties. I was a faithful attender of these for the most part, whenever Chicago or Xander or Amber didn't want me to do anything. This year the twins were off at a friend's house, I do believe, and Chicago said she might come later, so I was free to go frolic blindly in the sand, which I intended on doing.
The only way I was able to find the place was because of the bonfire glowing on the shore. I also chose that to be my centralized location, so I would always have the fire within my sight, or what's left of it anyway. I managed to spot Sage in the midst of everything and he didn't look like he was doing anything, so I snuck up behind him like the over sized immature kid I still was, locking my arms around him in a bear hug from behind and slung him around in circles, setting him back down before I lost my own balance, already enjoying myself.

My chucks sink into the dry sand, as the salty breeze shoves long blades of grass into my legs. I'm just stand there teetering back and forth whether I should stay or get the hell out of dodge. Drunk teens hanging out at some old guys annual party. Even now it sound like a guy has a thing for teen age girls. So tantalizing, I know, but here I stand with this humming in my chest to go. To walk my happy little ass down there, pluck a girl from her friends and dance. Have a little fun before I ditch this place. I did walk all the way here.
My piercing gazes falls to my black chucks, then to the dark washed jeans, I've had since I could remember. My hands grab at the hem of my slightly tight Danzig shirt. One of my hands loosens it's grip and runs it's fingers though my black not-at-attention mohawk. What the hell might as well.
I pulled my aviator shades free from the collar of my shirt and slide them on. I jog down the little hill and head for the deafening music and dancing bodies.

The arms that wrapped around him could have only been Semper's. Sure, he had plenty of ladies that would have pulled the same move, but none were strong enough to actually pick him up and well, for a lack of a better word, twirl him around. Instantly, started laughing. He was glad his best friend was able to make it.
Semp finally put him down and Sage had only touched the sand for a split second when he was tacking Semp to the ground. "I have to get my pay back." Sage smirked, covered in sand.
Note: crap post sorry!

Lily stood to the side, sipping on a soda. She wasn't one for alchohol, hated the stuff actually. After all, it was the reason her dad always lost his temper, and started yelling at her and Gale. She'd vowed never to touch those stupid drinks again. If she did, someone might as well toss her in the mental ward.
She wandered over to the bonfire, feeling bored. (short, sorry, feeling lazy today)

I had caught my balance and was just catching my breath (obviously I'm not as good as I was about twenty years ago) when I felt a sudden and tremendous force hitting me and knocking me to the sand. I knew it was Sage; not just because he said something soon after, but by his smell. Weird, I know, but I have to recognize people somehow when I can't really see their face.
I laughed. "Good Ripred, Sage, I didn't think y' could still pull that one off." Sure, we were only in our thirties, but I wouldn't expect my best friend to just completely level me out on the sand. I got up to my feet and offered him a hand to help him up. "Hey, how many people're here?" I couldn't see anyone else, so Sage, as usual at types of events like these, was my eyes. From previous parties, I knew that students of Richmond high school liked to come since Sage's parties were always good, and really, who wouldn't? I've been to every single one of his parties and not once has he let me down.

Lexi watched as a girl with blonde hair and gorgeous blue eyes. She seemed a little bit younger than herself, but still old enough to handle a jump off a cliff into cold water. Well, hopefully she would be the adventurous type. Alexiana stood up and walked over to the girl. "Hey, mind if I sit here?" She smiled sweetly.
Note: CRAP sorry!

(it's fine. I have my posts like that too) Lily glanced up as a girl spoke to her. "Of course not." She replied with a smile, scooting over. She was able to tell if someone was a demigod, and sometimes even thier parentage. Being a daughter of Athena herself, she could always tell if someone was her half-sibling or not. And the girl was. "I'm Lily, daughter of Athena." She said the last bit quietly enough so that if any humans were nearby, they wouldn't overhear.

Sage accepted Semper's had graciously. Yes, he was only in his thirties and Sage had made sure to stay physically fit since his looks were a major part of who he was, but the facts were there. The son of Aphrodite just didn't move the way he used to though he didn't regret tackling Semp. "Hey, I'm not that old yet!" Sage pretended to be insulted.
He looked around the beach. Everyone was in swimwear even though it was freezing out. The fires were enough to keep everyone warm and people were just too excited to really pay much attention to the chill of the air. "Well, There's about six around the bonfire right now including you and me and everyone else is just roaming around and swimming, believe it or not." Sage spoke as he brushed off sand from his light button down shirts and swim trunks.

"Y' ain't, but I sure as hell feel like it." Pft, I don't know what I'm saying, I'm not even forty. I guess it's just that I've never really been physically the same since I broke my knee. It reset wrong and it still gives me a light limp, but it's certainly not as noticeable as it first was. Too much strenuous activity was just hell for it, so I guess that's why I'm more of a turtle now.
I could hear the voices of the other people and all of them sounded young and I didn't recognize them. Well, maybe it was a good social event for them all to come to since they weren't the ones having to invest in all the drinks and stuff. I became bewildered when I heard that people were actually swimming. "Are they crazy?" I asked no one in particular, turning my head to look in the direction of the ocean, thinking I'd actually see someone out there in the dark, swimming around.
((Woo, fail ending. o.o ))
