It was late afternoon when she picked up Goliath from the groomer. Will couldn’t help but to feel like a horrible parent when she saw that the great beast was the only one left in the place. She decided she would make it up to him by taking him to the park for a bit. Since she had been in back to back meeting since 10AM, it would be as much of a treat for her as it would be for him. So, once she shoved the dog in the car, she drove over to the park.
Wilhelmina took a seat on a park bench, near the lake. She pulled her phone from her pocket, wondering if she should ignore the slew of emails and text messages from clients till the morning. The debate in her mind did not last long. Of course, she was going to respond, she was a work-a-holic. Every so often, she would lift her head to see how Goliath was doing. He was always good about staying within her eyesight. When all became silent around her, her hazel eyes lifted. He was gone.
A rush of panic ran through her. She shot to her feet, looking near and far for the black great dane. “Goliath?” She called, wondering where he could have disappeared to so quickly.

Jacob walked through the park, texting on his iphone. He had just gotten off work, and was glad to have a nice relaxing walk. While he loved his job at the Apple store, some days it just plain hectic, and today had been one of them. If it could break, it seemed as if it had today, for person after person came in needing something fixed. He was one of the tech support people, and one of the better ones too, so he got all the hard jobs.
Not that he minded. He loved fixing the products, and was pretty much a tech geek. He had on a sports jacket over his apple shirt, dark blue jeans, and a nice pair tennis shoes. His hair was neat for once, and a little wavy. He slipped his phone into his pocket, about to put in his earphones, when a great dane galloped towards him. He someone call the name Goliath, and guessed that the dog had run off.
"Hey, easy boy. Calm down." He grabbed the dog's collar, pulling him to a halt. He looked aorund for where the voice had come from, and spotted a young woman several feet away. And she wasn't bad looking either. He pulled the dog, who he assumed was Goliath, over towards her. "Hey, is this who you're looking for?" The dog barked as if to say yes.

Will spotted a mass of black in the distance, accompanied by a man. Embarrassment flooded her as he escorted the normally well-behaved and obedient dog to her. She reached in her bag and pulled a red leash from it. As soon as Goliath was close enough, she attached it to the collar. She wasn’t sure of the leash laws, but she was sure they upheld them in public areas like the park. “Yeah, he’s mine.” She admitted nervously after Goliath chimed in as if to answer for her. She patted the side of her thigh twice. With no hesitation, he came and sat beside her. A dog so large had to be trained, and trained well. After all, he weighed more than she did.
”I’m so sorry. He didn’t bother you, did he?” She said, tucking a few pesky strands of blonde hair behind her ear. The man’s face looked familiar. When she got a peek of the Apple shirt, she knew why. “You work at the Apple store, don’t you? I mean, the shirt and all is a dead give-away, but your face looks familiar.” That’s right, Will, change the subject, she told herself.

When the woman said yes, Jacob let go of the dog, and Goliath bounded over to her. He was a huge, a mound of black fur, and he seemed to be a pretty nice dog. He himself loved dogs, but he hadn't gotten around to buying one yet. Mostly cause he knew the type of dog he'd want, and that brought back unwelcome memories.
"No, of course not. I just saw him running, and heard you call, so I figured he must be yours. He's a quite a dog you've got." He replied. "And yeah I do. I'm part of the tech support." He looked at her closely. "You know, you look familar too, now that I think about it. Maybe I've seen you there."

Hearing actual confirmation that Goliath hadn’t gotten the chance to bulldoze small children to the ground, or dig up flowers, in the short time he’d left her sight was a relief. The man didn’t seem bothered by him either, which was yet another relief. Will looked down at Goliath a patted him on the head for his momentary calmness. “Thank you,” she told him, figuring she’d leave out the depressing fact that he belonged to her dead grandmother. She didn’t have the heart to put him up for adoption.
“Oh, tech support? No wonder,” she smiled. “I’m always having complications. I love technology, but it’s not always very nice to me.” She chuckled. Will liked to think that she was savvy, but she often did more harm than good. She went through phones and computers like dish washing detergent. “You might have helped me before. I’m good with faces, but not with names unfortunately. I’m Wilhelmina. Call me Will,” she extended her free hand to him.

He smiled. "Your welcome." He replied, slipping his ipod into his back pocket. The woman seemed relieved that Goliath hadn't gotten into anything, and he was glad he had seen the dog when he had. He seemed to be a nice dog, but dogs will be dogs, and get into who knows what.
He laughed. "Yeah, I'm kind of a tech geek. If it's a computer, I could practically take it apart and put it back together with my eyes closed. Always loved computers, and really an piece of technology." He studied her for a minute. "You know, I think I do remember you. A computer problem I think. And I'm Jacob." He shook her hand. "Nice to meet you Will."

"That's impressive. I know I'm certainly grateful technical geniuses, otherwise I'd be buying a new computer anytime I had something wrong." She told him with a small chuckle. Will was the type of person who drummed on the keyboard if the computer was frozen, or accidentally uploaded some awesome virus that no one seemed to get rid of. She shook his had firmly. "It's nice meeting you as well, Jacob-- or again, as it seems."
"So, do you normally walk around the park and round up large dogs, or did we catch you by luck?" She asked, jokingly of course. For the moment, she'd forgotten about emails and text messages from clients and other vendors. It was easy to forget. Her mind had been ticking away at all things work for the past ten hours, so it was nice to chit chat with someone for the time being.

"Thanks. Yeah, I hear that a lot. There was this one lady one time, that gave me this big hug when I fixed her computer. She looked so relieved, and it was really a rather easy fix." Jacob had gotten adicted to computers when he was young. His parents had eventually stopped going to the store to get stuff fixed, and instead just went to him. A lot of his neighbors and friends had too.
He laughed. "Well, I don't know about the dogs part, but I do often come here. It's nice to just take a walk after a long day at work. As much as I love my job, there are days I nearly quit, all the uncooperative customers I happen to get." He watched the dog for a moment. "He really is a nice dog. I love dogs, but I just haven't gotten one because..." Jacob paused for a second. "Well, just because I haven't gotten around to it yet."
