It was a relatively quiet night in Del Notre Park. Hayley had sent out texts to the few people she considered friends these days, the people she had known since she entered Richmond High School. She considered this to be something of a party, if not a small gathering of her nearest and dearest friends. The residents of Richmond, California knew how to throw a good and perfectly illegal party when the occasion called for it. She had started a few of those, and made decisions she wasn't entirely proud of. But hey, didn't everyone?
With her son occupied with his night job at the local movie theater, Hayley was free to spend as much time out in the warm spring air as she wanted. It would do her some good, to breathe in some fresh air and time to herself. She started to wonder if anyone would bother coming out, hoping she wouldn't have to spend this young night all alone.
