COLLIN ROSS DEGREA
HELLO, MY NAME IS GERBIL. I AM NINETEEN YEARS OLD AND I'VE BEEN ROLEPLAYING FOR SIX YEARS ON AND OFF. I'M FROM IRELAND SO I'M IN THE GMT TIMEZONE. I ALSO HAVE NONE YET ON THIS SITE.
NAME: Collin Ross Degrea
AGE: Eighteen
MEMBER GROUP: Human, first year university student
LOOKS LIKE: Kevin Zegers
Collin is an active kind of guy. He's always up and moving, if anything he's almost up and moving more then he is sitting around. He gets bored easily, which sadly affects his grades poorly, not because he's dim, but because if he's in one place for too long all he can think of is the moment he can leave, and sitting around makes him agitated and irritable.
One of the reasons he is this active is related to his anger, some other emotions also, but mainly his anger. Collin has a very strong set of morals, he hates violence, he hates cruelty, and he's a young male with a high level of testosterone. Rather then talk out his problems, Collin tries to repress them, and it helps him to work out his anger physically, so instead of picking a fight, he'll run and run and run some more. Simply put, Collin is a bottler. When he does start to get bothered though. when he does finally express his anger, he tends to explode, and when he does it's spectacular.
Collin suffers from some serious insecurities, partly from having one sister who is a borderline genius, and another sister whose a social butterfly. It meant nothing he ever did was ever good enough, or if it was good enough it was never 'as' good. This progressed into his future friendships where he'd always assume everyone was better at just about anything then him, leading to constant second guessing of himself, and over thinking situations to the point where he ends up making everything awkward, now add that to the fact he's quite an awkward guy and you have...well, a lot of awkward.
Pacifism is an ideal Collin lives for, doesn't always live up to it, but believes strongly in it, never harm another, never cause a war, never touch a weapon and so forth. He wants to save the world from itself one person at a time if he has to. He'll always be the first to speak up for a peaceful resolution, to sign a petition, or to give money to the homeless, it's what inspired him to go into medicine to begin with. However, this can make him very annoying when things are going badly, and he can be judgemental towards those who don't live up to his standards, as well as downright self righteous. When he does screw up though he'll carry it with him forever, apologising for every little thing, and using it if anyone does accuse him of being self righteous, which in turn feeds into his social insecurities again because no matter how much he tries he's still never good enough.
When it comes to Sexuality Collin is a mess. He's awkward enough to scare off most potential mates. As much as he likes girls sometimes he catches himself looking at guys and just ends up feeling very confused about the entire thing.
If you're looking for a hero, don't look to Collin, he's a side lines kind of guy. He avoids confrontation and is very attached to his life. When push comes to shove Collin tends to freeze up. He can't help it, it's his natural reaction to stress, to over think things or to simply freeze. If in danger Collin will have his eyes closed hoping whatever it is will pass him by, even if there's no logical reason to think it will. However he'll also be the first person there trying to help after the danger has passed.
Collin was born in a small town south of Richmond to Nora and Conner Degrea He grew up in a small community, the kind where everyone knew everyone else, and where they had a distrust of outsiders. It wasn't hatred, or even dislike, just the sort of distrust that spawns in small areas, where if a crime occurs everyone will instantly look to the person who wasn't raised in the community.
He was the older twin, born two minutes before his sister, even as a baby he liked to be around his sister and would wail whenever his parents took Nikki out of his sight. His parents always seemed to show they're love to him and his sister so much that when he grew older he would wonder if his sister Nadia was ever jealous.
Even as a toddler Collin was larger than his peers. As a young child in just starting school Collin had learned to throw around his weight to get what he wanted. He was a little terror, but then again what five year old wasn't. Collin would get what he wanted when he wanted right up until this little shrimp of a kid who came from a rough family and had five older brothers and sisters joined his class. Regardless of size that kid would terrorise Collin day in day out, it wasn't unheard of the two getting into the occasional scrap, and more and more kids slowly began to learn that they didn't have to deal with Collin trying to bully them. This little childhood fight for hierarchy went on until the day Nikki got involved. Collin can't quite remember exactly what had happened, was it that she was trying to defend him or just got in the way? He couldn't recall, but either way for some reason Nikki ended up getting bowled over by the kid and scratched her knee or something, after that Collin just outright hit the kid.
Nothing all that out of the ordinary, most people wouldn't even remember it, hell Collin couldn't even remember it, just blurry images of him getting extra homework and his parents being called in. But the event left it's mark on him regardless. After that he mellowed out a lot, got into sport, stopped picking on other kids, took to hating violence and over the years slowly became a very caring sort of guy despite his intimidating size.
It wasn't until middle school where his temper started to flare up again that he found his love for football. Not only did he love American football, he was good at it. He did well enough that when he finally entered highschool he barely had to try out to earn a spot on the team. Being one of the best on the football field did him more than a few favours with the ladies. He got the ladies with his looks and sporting prowess, but he lost them just as quickly with his shy bug and slightly bookish tendencies
.
When Collin was sixteen some guy he played against in football liked to butt heads with him named Brian. He didn't like to tell Nikki about it because he knew she'd do something and get them both in more trouble then it was worth. That train of thought did not serve him well in the least. The guy had been harassing him little by little and Collin was using every fibre of goodwill in his body to ignore it, but when this idiot started saying things about Nikki Collin's pleasant demeanour showed cracks. It started with simply snapping at everyone, then playing with far more aggression on the field than usual. Then one day Collin caught Brian outright hitting on Nikki just before their game. Collin as soon as the game started Collin ignored the ball, ignored the game entirely, he ran straight for Brian and just lost it. Neither of them came out unscathed, and Collin went through two weeks of suspension, absolute hell from his parents for being such an idiot and being kicked from the team.
His last two years of school everyone seemed to look at him differently. They all seemed to forget, but if Collin ever started to lose his temper it didn't take anyone a long time to remember. He spent more time studying, taking a real like to biology of all subjects, particularly anything practical. He wanted to go into medicine, become a doctor, but he just wasn't quite bright enough for that, maths would always be his downfall. Instead he went into nursing, something he still a little unnerved admitting openly, but proud of none the less. He moved to Richmond, away from his family and sisters for the university and is taking a first year course to become a nurse.
